We got the news that construction for another house being put in our backyard has been moved up from maybe spring next year to next month…which means we’ll probably leave here once it’s completed (it would take a miracle tenant to feel comfortable staying in such close quarters). Im grieving our plans for the yard and our breathing room. I’m grieving potentially having to leave LA sooner than we wanted to (it would take another miracle to justify paying to stay here when we’re trying to save for land for the Compound). I’m trying to stay open to the chance that this is the universe propelling us into that next step. And mostly I think I’m just disappointed that I can’t make LA what I want it to be but have to accept it as it is. All the reasons I left a decade ago have just gotten worse. Everybody wants community but nobody can afford (or in some cases don’t want) to sacrifice for it. My love/hate for LA is strong. But this city made me who I am. Here’s to making the most of it while we can ✌️
